With the arrival of the Nike Mercurial Vapor V’s, these Nike Mercurial Vapor IV’s may seem a little out of date but rest assured, it takes no sheen off one of the most beautiful looking pair of football boots that Nike have come up with in the Mercurial Vapor line.  Out of this world cool.

Comfort factor is provided courtesy of the padding around the ankle area of the boots and striking the ball cleanly is made possible with the introduction of the latex cover over the laces.

Cristiano Ronaldo sported these in at least 5 colorways before graduating to the Nike Mercurial Vs in last year’s UEFA Champions League between Manchester United and Inter Milan that also featured  Barca’s new frontman, Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

The futsal version that came out in Malaysia were the Nike Mercurial Steam and I waited and waited for the lace-covered edition to release here but it never did.

It’s been a long overdue conclusion but we finally have it.

A little over 3 weeks ago, Find Futal Malaysia initiated a Manchester United competition title “How Red Is Your Heart?” because we wanted to find out who among Malaysian Manchester United fans is the biggest Red Devil in all the land. We wanted to know which of you “Old Trafford faithfuls” is the real deal.

And it was such an easy competition. Just 1) visit our Facebook page, 2) become a fan and 3) tell us why you are the biggest and baddest Manchester United fan.

And we are now pleased to announced the winner (again, finally)!

The winning entry came from Michael Yip and I’m sure many will agree.

How Red is My Heart? It’s So Red that I was willing to do anything for the team, die defending the pride that is Man Utd, even canceling my anniversary dinner (and I wasn’t sorry about it) with my loved one just because Man Utd is in town. …She now know not to tease the club in front of me cause I almost broke up with her because she said something I don’t like against Man Utd.

Stopped talking to my bro-in-law the day he told me he supported some other team (it’s been 4 years now since I last spoke to him).

Most recently, my other sister started dating an ex schoolmate of mine and I know which other Red team he supported. I’ve since started adding the word ANTI (with a permanent water proof marker) next to that club’s name that he has plastered around his car.

How Red is my heart? It’s red enough that none of my friends dared say anything bad about the club when I’m around.

While we strongly do not recommend cancelling any anniversary dinners,  Find Futsal Malaysia assistant editor, Ahmad Farouq, just could not deny Michael Yip the winning entry.

Manchester United edged past Arsenal after an own goal by Abou Diaby broke the deadlock at one goal a piece. Arshavin scored for the travelling Gunners on 40 mins with one heck of  screamer. Things were levelled by Wayne Rooney when he made no mistake from the penalty spot subsequent to being brought down by Almunia.

Match highlights from yesterday’s match between the English Champions and Wigan Athletic.

Woohoo. United were rampant in the second half in their fixture with Wigan away from home.

Rooney (2), Berbatov, Owen and Nani managed to colour the scoresheet with their names in what proved to be a resounding response to the loss against Burnley in midweek.

I was on the road during the first half so I couldn’t really comment on their performance but a friend noted that United were rather wasteful and Wigan were quick and dangerous on the counter-attack.

The 2nd half was a whole different story though. The lads didn’t exactly come out flying out of the gates, they patiently went along with a steady build-up play as Valencia looked to be more and more confident with the ball on the right flank.

And it was the Ecuardorian’s cross from the same flank that got things started. in the  56th minute of the game. Rooney took United a goal up after connecting with Valencia’s perfectly weighted cross for goal number 100.

Berbatov was next in line, having a good game this time around and providing brilliant little touches for this teammates. His goal came only 2 minutes after United opener, his deft touch playing a role in his contribution, lifting the ball over Kirkland with feather-like touch and finishing off acrobatically.

From a Berbatov pass in the 65th minute, Rooney added another to his tally after intelligent tight handling of the ball in the box although he was very much aided by a fortunate deflection off a Wigan defender and left Kirkland rather wrong-footed.

Sir Alex Ferguson put United’s new no.7 in place of Rooney on 72 minutes and just 13 minutes later the Englishman scored his Manchester United Premier League debut goal. And a fine one it was. Nani running down the middle managed to detect Owen horizontally run across the Wigan penalty box and slid the ball into the stride of the United forward. Needing only a look and a touch, it was a stylish highlight to his debut goal.

Nani was on hand to round things off for the Red Devils in injury time. The Portuguese has been under constant fire from critics as being wasteful although possessing immense talent. And he didn’t waste this opportunity to silence critics by scoring from a dead ball situation, almost signalling his intent to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

I have to say that it was a good match to have watched, especially the second half and what’s important is that with results like these so early in the season, it gives hope to fans all around and proves that there is indeed life after Ronaldo.
