Fresh of opening for Usher at Bukit Jalil Stadium last week, Mizz Nina is all set for the album launch, TOMORROW (17 July 2010)!

And unless you’ve been inhabiting a rock off the Pacific Islands, you would’ve definitely been caught by and addicted to the infectious song that is “What You Waiting For” (music video on Youtube here).

Released March 2010, “What You Waiting For” has dominated Malaysian airwaves and received LOTS of airplays on local station shows including Carta Negara on XFM, The Freaky Fly 30 (Fly FM) and MET 10 (Hitz.fm). Not only that, the single is international, too! In the US, the R&B starlet’s single has also been getting airplays on Wild 104.9 (KKWD) and 102.3 KJLH.

Can’t wait to get our hands on the album.

NIKE, Inc. today launched the new Arsenal club kits showcasing a new design approach intended to maximize performance while minimizing environmental impact.  The kits highlight Arsenal’s unique heritage with traditional graphics, while incorporating lightweight design and recycled fabric.

The new kits reflect the design innovation and premium detailing demanded by football’s elite players.  A combination of renewable fabric sourcing, new design aesthetic and numerous nods to Arsenal’s rich history set a new standard for the club uniforms.

Technology Driven and Eco Sensitive Sportswear – We like!

For the first time in the club’s history, the new shirts are made entirely from recycled polyester, with each shirt directly produced from up to eight plastic water bottles found at waste disposal sites in Japan and Taiwan. The bottles are thoroughly cleaned, reduced to tiny flakes, melted into a yarn and spun for kit fabrication. This new manufacturing process reduces energy consumption by up to 30% compared to manufacturing traditional polyester.

With the new manufacturing process, Nike has saved nearly 13 million plastic water bottles, a total of around 254,000 kg of polyester waste that can take up to 500 years to naturally decompose. Every recycled bottle used to make these kits laid from top to bottom would cover over 3,000 kilometers, or 29 football pitches.

The kits allow players to maintain their optimum body temperature and perform at their peak on the pitch by helping keep them dry and cool. The new Nike Dri-FIT fabric, 13% lighter than previous kits, helps to quickly evaporate moisture by drawing it to the surface to enhance breathability by up to 7% more than previous versions. The innovative ventilation zones along each side of the jersey and below the waistband and near the base of the spine on the shorts, significantly increases air penetration to keep players cooler.

The jersey’s new dynamic fit and double knit structure gives it a sleeker appearance, while offering 10% more stretch than the last Arsenal jersey. The jersey’s silhouette follows the body’s natural contours for maximum movement and airflow.

Style and Design

A distinct sense of tradition and style has characterized Arsenal’s approach both on and off the pitch. This season, to reflect their inherent style, Arsenal will play in new home and away shirts featuring the classic sartorial craftsmanship usually found on a tailored Savile Row shirt in London.

Both shirts have a stitched seam on the upper back, deep cuffs on the sleeve, and a wide vertical mesh stripe running throughout the material. The new home shirt is a modern interpretation of the classic Arsenal shirt by combining a red body, white sleeves, and a white round-neck collar.  On the back of the shirt below the neck reads ‘Arsenal’ in the club’s unique font, similar to the massive concrete letters that stand at the entrance to the Emirates stadium.

Inside the shirt on the back of the club crest is a graphic that reads ‘Victoria Concordia Crescit’ which is Arsenal’s Latin motto and translates as ‘Victory Through Harmony.’ The new away shirt contains the same distinct craftsmanship as the home shirt, but is in the classic Arsenal away color of yellow, evoking memories of winning the League title at Anfield in 1989. The v-neck collar, cuffs and pinstripes on the yellow shirt are all redcurrant, the color of Arsenal’s shirts during the first and last year, separated by 93 years, they played at their former stadium and spiritual home Highbury.

This season additional leading clubs, including Manchester United, FC Barcelona and Inter Milan will be wearing the most eco-friendly and technologically advanced kit in football history. The new Arsenal kits will be available from July 2010 onwards.

The Nike All Stars – “We Run It” music video is now released!

Featuring Nike All Stars Joe Flizzow, Moots & JD Pop Shuvit, Andy & Rich Estranged, Izal One Buck Short, MizzNina, Arabyrd, Jin Hackman and DJ Fuzz, the music video exuberates grandeur swagger and flying sporting spirit from start to finish.

We don’t really know the locations in the music video for sure just yet but the music video begins in an alley very much reminiscent of those found in between the streets of Rio de Janerio, one of the footballing capitals of the world.

And then “the war” begins. The neighbourhood kids, split between the Red army and the Blue army, start pouring in and setting up the stage for a straight up street football match on what appears to be an abandoned construction site.

The Nike All Stars feature throughtout the music video as the match goes on, bringing their unique rappling/singing style to the table for an intriguing mix of musical influences.

A couple of Malaysia national football team players are spotted in the video and even Mr. Rajagobal made a cameo appearance!

Directed by Nam II Cho and produced by Edwin Raj, we were pretty much blown away by the cinematography and direction of the music video.

So who triumphs in the end, the Blue army or the Red army? Only one way to find out, ladies and gentlemen.

Fly Fm DJ, R&B Singer Songwriter. Grrr for tiger 2010. A clear rip off from her Madu Tiger bio on Twitter. But for good reason though since it describes who Hunny Madu is, quite fittingly.

Starting off with Admonition, a group that with a decent run in Blast Off Season 1 (2004), Hunny Madu is now a DJ on Fly FM [10am-1pm (Monday-Friday) and 7-8pm (every Sunday)] and very much into the music scene these days.

Our first encounter with the talented songstress was at the 3R Futsal competition back in November 2009 where she performed to help raise awareness about HIV Aids, the theme of the futsal competition that day at Sportsplanet Ampang. She was even nice enough to pose for a picture with one of us before her performance.

Equipped with a soulful, unique voice and wicked/mad/dope dancing skills, Hunny Madu looks to be on the way to making her mark on Malaysia’s national music scene,  working hard at what she does, often performing alongside her dancers, Selektaz.

As of late, she has been showcasing her latest creative offering titled “Miss Strong” in shows across Malaysia including at the Hot FM Big Jam 2010 in Penang. Check out the Miss Strong video below.

Oh and and latest news (yesterday) from her personal and Fly FM blog state that she is getting hitched next weekend. Yes fellas, starting bawling like babies.

So it’s especially good to kick things back into motion with a single announcement by one of Malaysia’s brightest, most genuine and talented artist most commonly known as  Altimet.

The man’s latest offering titled “Syukur” (from his most recent album Jian) brings to the Malaysian hip-hop scene a refreshing feel and sound, coupled with positive messages of gratitude, hope and , giving the genre a much needed momentary departure from just money and booty. We definitely don’t mind either but you know what we mean right?

In “Syukur”, Altimet tells the story of the everyday man’s (and woman’s) struggle to provide and  make an honest living in the city. “Dari tauke besar hingga kerani, semua punya niat sama di hati,” he raps.

What makes “Syukur” a winner is the blatant opportunity for listeners to connect with the song, being able to relate to it simply because everyone goes through what Altimet raps about in this gem of his.

Throw in a solid and catchy beat and ow we’re definitely looking forward to “Syukur” topping playlists across Malaysia.

The music video for “Syukur”, shot beautifully in black and white, speaks volumes in representing Kuala Lumpur city and Malaysia. Featured in the video are the streets and iconic sites of our amazing capital city. Watch out for the cool cameos as well. Produced by Kartel Records, “Syukur” was directed by Kroll for Phuture Phlow Films.

Do yourself a favour, have a view and listen. And prepare to be inspired.

Just under 2 weeks ago, on the 5th of January 2009, the FFM crew were invited to the premiere screening of FourFourTwo: Road to South Africa 2010 held at SOULed Out, Hartamas.

Naturally, besides the other journalists and bloggers, the show’s entertaining hosts were on hand to make a small presentation of one of Astro’s latest offering.

Jay Menon and Jason Dasey were also kind enough to pose for pictures at the event.

Each week, football fans can expect to see discussions on one of the eight groups, the key players and relevant updates and news leading up to the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa.

Jason Dasey did say before, “The first version of FourFourTwo, which was launched in August and extended to a one-hour show in October, is registering very healthy ratings. Hence, we wanted to leverage on the increasing popularity of the show by giving Malaysians the FourFourTwo: Road to South Africa 2010, serving as a one-stop destination for all 2010 FIFA World Cup South AfricaTM news.”

The show also takes a look at two nations – England and Australia – bidding to host the 2018 World Cup. England 2018 spokesman Clare Tipton-Kenny will be a special guest along with Ben Buckley the CEO of Football Federation Australia where a clip of the Australia 2018 video hosted by Nicole Kidman will be showcased.

The show airs on Astro SuperSport (CH 811) every Thursdays at 9pm.

On Sunday, 8 November, Find Futsal Malaysia conducted a photoshoot with a whole array of NIKE football boots and 2 pairs of NIKE futsal shoes. What’s different and significant from our other photoshoots is that this is the first time we used models as part of the set.

Trying to stay true to our aim of bringing an extra little something to potentially mundane photoshoots, this is what we came up with.

The featured shot which was released on our Facebook page and titled “It’s Still 14.11.09 in Brazil” took us quite a while to pull off.
