CARDIO, PART 2: Which One For You?

9 September 2009 No Comment

In Part 1 of the “Cardio” series, we explained in as short and simple manner as possible what ‘cardio’ is.

So know now you know what cardio is, which one would suit you best?

Frankly speaking, we can’t tell you that. The answer lies within yourself and your preferences. To the seasoned gym aficionado, the list of cardio activities below may seem pretty obvious but for the rest of us starting out, these are some of the basic varieties of cardio workouts. Straight-forward but effective.

RUNNING 1

ROWING

There is no one perfect cardio exercise out there. Basically, any activity that is able to alleviate your heart rate would do just fine.

And its best to incorporate some fun factor into your cardio workout. If you’re not a gym person, don’t force yourself there just because you need to.  Do it because you want to.

We suggest taking up a team sport if you enjoy mixing social activities and keeping fit in the same book. Exercising can be more effective when you’re having fun at it too.

For many of us, a solid cardio workout 3 times a week would be ideal. And its doesn’t take long at all per day. We’re sure you can squeeze a half hour (at least) to keep yourself healthy.

If you really have time, think about adding a weight-lifting plan (after thorough research or with help of a professional) in addition to your cardio workout plan.

Last but not least, do practice safe exercise habits and don’t forget to stretch!
